Looking for leads into a Sales/Marketing Position

I have a very dear friend that is personable, professional, educated (BS in Psychology from Wayne State), and ready to go! He is looking to get his foot in the door in a Sales and Marketing position (preferably Pharmaceutical Sales), has been searching and interviewing for a year, and has been hitting dead ends.
Personally, I think what is negatively separating him from the rest is that he does not have experience in the field, which seems to be what most employers are looking for in candidates. But hey, we all started from scratch at some point, right?
If anyone has any leads (or insight) on a company or employer that would be willing to hire without previous experience, please let me know.
