Before adding The Designate as our first sponsor, I personally tested their service. So you know, The Designate is a service that sends two drivers to come pick you (and your party) up on nights when no one wants to be saddled with "have you had too much to drink"? One driver drives you in your car and the second one follows. It's a very cool concept. On to my story...
Our last MCC social was on November 17 at Roosevelt's. Both are significant: November 18 is my birthday and Roosevelt's is the bar we'd hit after softball virtually every week for the past 5 years.
On a non The Designate night, I would have either curbed my drinking, worried about how I was going to drive home safely or called Stephanie to come get me. Normally, Option 1 takes hold. Not on this evening. I was able to enjoy myself without concern. What a relief it is to know that all you have to do is dial 888.929.8282 and you can get back to your fun.
The call was easy to make, the person on the line was helpful and professional and 15 minutes later I got a call from the driver saying they were on their way. 10 minutes after that they phoned and said they were in the parking lot (of course, I didn't have my ringer on and both calls ended up in my voicemail ;-)
The ride home was great and I felt like I had made an excellent choice. It's interesting to me how important discretion is to The Designate. For me, I want to broadcast that I was smart enough to let someone else drive me home as opposed to driving myself. Evidently not everyone feels the same way.
I appreciated the fact that the driver stopped my car right outside of my garage, had me sign a paper that said we made it home safe, collected the payment and was off into the night. It was such a great relief to know that on the list of things I had to do the next day, picking up my car wasn't one of them.
I am excited that The Designate is a sponsor of MCC because I have experienced first hand the difference they make in your evening.
