CPA's and Attorney's,
I am an Financial Advisor at UBS Financial Services in Troy and looking to aggressively build up my business and looking to include some CPA's and Attorney's in my referral network. Just to be honest, I have met a few CPA's and Attorney's who already have an existing network of referral partners as they already have a successful business. I am looking for someone who is VERY interested in growing their existing business (or starting) and would be a good fit.
Is this you? If so, I look forward to meeting you.

Brian,
As a fellow fincial services professional I'd like to share with you a tip I have found to be successful. While you are correct that most CPA's and Attorney's have existing referral partners what they don't have is you. What is your Unique Selling Propostion? What about your elevator pitch? How are you different from the other professionals they have aligned themselves with? Why should they work with you? How can you compliment and not compete against there already established relationships?
Communicate this message to them and you should not have a problem building up your network.
That's great advice Brian. I am coaching an individual in the Financial world and a large part of what we have done so far is honed his message. Had him define his target audience and understand what he does differently than his peers.
Since Financial Planners (or whatever else they choose to call themselves) are so very well represented in the networking world, it's important to say.do something that separates you. If I hear one more planner say I am looking to meet people who are or are likely to be downsized by the big 3, I am going to tell them they need to be my client immediately
BTW, CPA's and Attorneys need to be better networkers. If you are running into some that agree with this statement, let me know as they are a great referral for me too.
As an attorney who has met with Brian, I can tell you that he is a great resource and can be an asset to any attorney or CPA looking to align themselves with a Financial Planner. It is worth your time to sit with him over a cup of coffee.
And Terry is right. You would think that more attorneys and CPA would be better networkers as the majority of our client based is referred to us my other professionals.
So Brian, let's "hear" your USP! Try not to use any version of the words, "Any", "Every", or "Some". They automatically make your pitch too generic!
A great way to hone your USP or pitch, is to attend MCC breakfasts & lunches to practice it:)
