I wonder how many people on this list still use twitter? If not, why did you stop? Have you picked up another social network? Are you burned out on social media? Are you seeing results?
I haven't worked twitter much for two months since my tweet deck is down. I know just posting doesn't help--you need to continually engage with others too--to build those relationships. Sometimes it seems a total job in itself and for my business I get a TON more results when I meet people in person. So, I just look at it as an add on. It could be a full time gig. FB works better for me.
I don't turn to Twitter unless I need to find information on something. I post blogs I read to it through Social Oomph, and I promote events, but I'm not active otherwise. Facebook does a better job of engaging my attention. I'm pretty bad at checking my @replies.
I only use on occassion and only have 2 users turned to Mobile "on". Otherwise its too much and I'm ADD enough already. I just heard a very good but short presentation on Twitter by the Whole Brain Group and think there is great value in it. Also on Monday, Scott Monty of Ford presented at the Detroit Chamber and he is a black belt ninja twitter warrior. They move a lot of cars using twitter. I was pretty amazed. http://twitter.com/#!/ScottMonty
Good questions. I still use both Twitter and Facebook, though a bit of the novelty has worn off. I have two pretty distinct audiences on each of these platforms.
FB is king in the ease of engagement on multiple levels. I think you can be more yourself on FB.
On Twitter, you need to be 'on' and familiar with all the latest tricks, tools, and hashtags. Twitter feels like a bit of a treadmill at high speed that you have to keep up with or fall off. I also have found on Twitter a bit of what I would call 'snobbery' where there are all of these 'do & don't's' and boy, if you violate these 'rules' you will be quickly unfollwed, or threatened with being unfollowed. Twitter is great for news & jokes, and is a hoot to follow some celebrities and sports figures.
I'm admittedly pretty addicted to all thinks SM. I've met lots of great folks via SM, sent business out, received business in, and reconnected with lots of old, old friends. Its been great for me.
I was slow to jump on the twitter band wagon (September 09). When I did, I found a whole world open up for me. In addition to meeting many amazing people, my love for Detroit has deepened. Who knew?
