Dear Mr. Lipka,
I would like to suggest that the most dramatic of my three illustrated programs is perfectly suited for your Supplier of the Year event in May. Everest: To the Top of the World is featured on my Web site, www.unusualspeaker.com, and is summarized below.
The tragic 1996 season on Everest (also the subject of Jon Krakauer's book, Into Thin Air) perfectly illustrates the importance of teamwork, persistence, inter-dependence and the path to excellence. Indeed, after our team of veteran climbers exhibited good judgment in deferring an attempt on the summit (during questionable circumstances), they jumped into a massive, post-storm rescue effort that relied upon teamwork and organization. Our team went on to successfully climb the mountain, and return safely with images of spellbinding magnificence -- thousands of still photos and the Everest IMAX film, the highest grossing large format film in history. None of this could have been achieved without an abundance of persistence, partnership and professionalism.
Additional materials for this program, such as client comments ("Show Reviews"), can also be viewed on my Web site, and I'd be happy to e-mail you a PDF of the flyer. I can also provide hard copy promo packets and small color posters.
Please don't hesitate to write or call if you have any questions.
Sincerely yours,
Broughton Coburn

Everest: To the Top of the World
Based on his two national best-sellers, Everest: Mountain Without Mercy (National Geographic Books) and Touching My Father's Soul: A Sherpa's Journey to the Top of Everest (HarperSanFrancisco), Harvard graduate Broughton Coburn takes us behind the scenes and to the top of the world - to examine what makes a successful Everest climb work. In this alternately frightening and inspiring illustrated program, Coburn uses slides from the Everest IMAX Filming Expedition to illustrate the organization and dynamics of the team's eventually successful attempt, while exploring the natural and human events that led to the loss of 12 climbers in one storm.
In this gripping presentation, Coburn deftly depicts how climbing Everest safely demands an abundance of apprenticeship and experience. But it also requires the qualities of leadership, planning, confidence, commitment, strength, persistence, patience, professionalism, teamwork and humility -- all in a measured balance. For each of these attributes, he provides examples of how they furthered the IMAX teams effort, and how they affected the outcome. Coburn can also address additional topics, such as competitiveness, the role of the media, guiding of clients, and the compounding effect of poor planning, judgment and communication.

Hi Ace,
Well, Motivational Speaking is what I do and I would be prefect for your event. I have a number of business related/motivational talks including the one based on my latest book, "The Anti-Elevator Speech." Also, if I didn't happen to be a fit for you, we are connected with world class speakers from around the planet. My wife and I run a professional speaking company and she is also the current president of the Michigan Chapter of the National Speakers Association. Therefore we are hook up localily with just about everybody, but we also are connected to speakers from across the country. We were just working with Jack Canfield (the chicken soup for the soul guy) to put on his event in Chicago two weeks ago. I'm sure I could fit your organization with the perfect solution.
Check out my web-site at www.ExciteYourAudience.com. You can also give me a call at 248-348-1023 and talk to me (Cliff) or my wife Marilyn.
Looking forward to speaking to you.
Dear Ace-
Bruce Parmenter, a talented financial planner as well as a Rotarian, alerted me to your need. Would love to learn more about your event and what you're looking for in a speaker. If I don't fit the bill, perhaps I can recommend someone. I am based in Royal Oak, Michigan.

So for all you inquiring minds....I work for one of the "Big 3" and am in the process of planning a Supplier of the Year event. It is to recognize suppliers that have been working with us and have demonstrated ability in quality and other criteria. While some people may not see this event as very value added, it is indeed, important. One main reason is that our company plans to stick around - and if we cut ties and burn bridges with all the high performing suppliers, we will not be very resilient when it's time to bounce back. We find it critical to show the importance of working together - as OEM and supplier. It also instills the confidence that we are still planning on become an industry leader once again.
While the event is still moving forward, we have decided to not hire a Motivational Speaker - instead as a motivation, we'll be showing future products and concept vehicles.
Sincerely,
Arcelynn "Ace" Lipka
Think about John McElroy. He provides powerful information in an interesting format.
Hi Ace!
It sounds like you will have a diverse audience with supplier of the year recipients AND executives. They will not only want inspiring and meaningful information, but they will also want to be entertained.
My strength is meeting an audience where they are no matter HOW diverse they are. I've had ten year old children to doctors, lawyers and business executives in the same audience before.
I could show the audience how to have powerful effective communication by teaching them through demonstration how to meet the other person or business where they are. This would be combined with a lot of everyday humorous communication between spouses, bosses, children . . . to show them they can have excellent communication when they learn how to talk each other's language.
Then I will prove they have a bettter memory than they think. I will show them how to memorize 20 words forwards and backwards in two minutes and prove to them we can do anything if we approach and tackle the problem with an out of the box perspective. We all have have genius inside SCREAMING to get out! We ALL learn differently, and if they learn to capitalize on their strengths and focus on each other's strengths, they will have a company that can reach the seemingly impossible task.
I was the featured guest on America's Dream Makers when Dick Clark hosted (a while back;)) to inspire a diverse audience. Part of the video is on my web site http://empowermind.com/testimonials.htm (I've been interviewed on over 100 radio and TV shows.) I'm also an approved service provider for Ford. I've helped gang kids to top executives master their ability to learn AND make it fun!

My best to you for an over the top amazing event!

I highly recommend using John Putzier from FirStep Inc (www.firstepinc.com). He's a certified professional speaker with extensive automotive experience and has authored two books. I've utilized his services a few times in the past and always pleased with his work. If you choose not to use him, take a look at his books Get Weird and Weirdos in the Workplace; they are well worth reading.
