PURPOSE & SCOPE:

The Corporate Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) drives improvement in supplier performance, particularly quality.  The SDE must drive incoming quality by evaluating new and existing suppliers, assisting in the development of supplier quality control plans, and resolving supplier issues to closure in a timely manner.  The SDE also may work with other departments, including engineering, purchasing, and materials, to drive improvements to design, cost, and delivery performance.  

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• 1. Collect and analyze metrics of supplier performance for quality and delivery to track improvement.


• 2. Audit suppliers to measure capability of systems and evaluate suppliers' manufacturing facilities; maintain the approved supplier list.


• 3. Facilitate supplier Advanced Quality Planning from quote through Production Part Approval Process and Run at Rate to completion of launch; verify capacity and quality control plans.


• 4. Drive corrective action, including root cause verification and preventive actions


• 5. Advise and assist plant Supplier Development Engineers, including the development and operation of incoming quality procedure
  
  
  
  • B.S. in Engineering preferred (Production Engineering, Quality, etc.)
  
  
  • Minimum 5 years experience in evaluating processes and recommending process and quality improvements in the automotive industry
  
  
  • Experience with supplier quality/development engineering with new program launches is highly recommended
