Motivation for Working on Your Website

I'm working with TJ List on a monthly workshop he is putting on (Web Adventure Workshop) about getting to the guts about what "should" go on your website.

This has gotten me thinking about my site and other people's sites... So, I was wondering and would like to know about your site.
• How do you know what goes on it?
• What keeps you motivated to keep it fresh?
• How do you know if your clients like your site?
