Hey Gang, I need Help!
Those of you who know me most likely realize that I don't ask for a lot, but I have a personal problem I need assistance with. I blew my knees out early in stay in the Army back in the Sixties. Not being a complainer I learned to compensate for not being able to kneel comfortably by sitting on the ground or floor when I did low work. Guess what that did for my back. Even so I only went to the Doctor on those occassion when the dis-comfort got to much to handle which was not that often. If I would have complained more maybe they would have taken the innitiative to remedy the problem(Torn Cartilage in both Knees).
Fast fotward to April 7, 1970 one year after my Honorable Discharge. I file a claim with the VA for medical assistance to correct the problem. April 30, 1970 I wreck my motorcycle and break my leg. The benevelant VA dis-allows my claim saying it must be the motorcycle accident that caused the knee injuries. I could have fought it but I had BC/BS so I had the three operations on my left knee and two on my right knee done at Mount Carmel Hospital in Detroit.
Fast forward to Sept 2005. I was talking to some peple from the VA and they told me that I could still re-file a claim with the VA for disability. Well I filed and the VA turned me down again. They said that I need Medical Records from my Doctors to support my claim that I had surgery. I'm the illustrated man with Zipper Stitching for Gosh Sakes!
My problem is my Doctor is most likely passed on by now and Mt. Carmel no longer exists. I've checked Iron Mountain for my records and they said they do not have them. I have a lawyer working on this, but I have not heard from him in aawhile so I don't think he's having much luck. Does anyone have any suggestions. I only have until December this year to re-submit a claim.

Contact Ed Olson - His contact info is on my website www.keithstonehouse.com under "Attorney Guide" He would be the best fit for the job Duane! Good Luck!
Wow Duane,
I am sorry to hear about all these problems, I was telling Terry this morning that I had an epiphany in the show this morning (fill in dirty joke here). I realized that the blessings we count are outnumbered by the blessing we don't even recognize as a blessing.
Anyway, two things, I know Dave Biskner is involved in the VA and some navy recruiting. He may know some people who have pull there.
Also contact Michael Morse's office http://www.morse-law.com/ and let them know I sent you.
Good Luck
let me know if I can help you out in any way.
Ben
Duane,
Mt. Carmel, before it was closed, was part of the Mercy hopsital system, which is now part of Trinity Health. Perhaps contact their corporate offices in Farmington Hills. I'm not sure who to contact there. The website is: http://www.trinity-health.org/
Just an idea. Hope you find the documentation necessary.
Jeff
Thank you guys. I certainly appreciate the help. I was not really complaining about my Lawyer and I apologize that it came off that way. He has been doing the best he can. It's just my surgeries were done in the mid seventies so the odds of finding records are against us. Although suing the VA might be a thought. If any of you have seen my posts you know I'm just crazy enoughh to do that. Keith and Ben, thanks for the help, and Jeff I'll certainly try Trinity. Ben I sent an email to Dave, maybe he has a suggestion.
Again, thanks for the help
I'd be remiss if I did not reply to this message. Duane, since you said you don't need new legal counsel, I may not be able to be of assistance to you. However, I did ask two attorneys on my team who deal with disabilities as their specialty if they had any ideas for you and if they do I will be happy to share them with you. Hopefully you'll get some good info from the other posts as well. However, with all due respect to Keith and Ben, I know they both know and like the attorneys they suggested to you but neither of those attorneys handle disability cases, one is a business law attorney and the other is an auto accident attorney. If you do need new counsel at some point, I would be happy to direct you to the appropriate specialist on my team. However, your existing attorney may be meeting your needs and I do not want to interfere with that.
All my best,
Lori

Duane,
Contact you Congressman's office. They have people that regularly run interference with Federal agencies such as the VA. Your profile lists Bloomfield Hills, if that is your residence your Congressman is Joe Knollenberg. You can call his local office at 248-851-1366.
Chuck
Please try Troy Bloomquist. He is a former (though always a) Marine and armed forces supporter. He is on MCC and may have some info for you.
My computer seems to be out of my control . . . . sorry for any redundancy!
