Lift Detroit In Prayer
Dear MCC Friends,
No matter what religion, you know that prayer works. The church I currently go to has spear-headed "Lift Detroit In Prayer." This is an effort to uplift Detroit and SE Michigan.
On Sunday, September 14 at 2 p.m. in Hart Plaza, thousands of individuals of every faith will join together in Hart Plaza for a dynamic, impactful ceremony themed "I Lift Detroit in Prayer." The entire faith community will be at this event, as will the press and media, and business and civic leaders from all over Greater Detroit. Everyone who attends will be given a bumper sticker that proclaims "I Lift Detroit in Prayer." This event is open to individuals of all faiths and needs your participation to be fulfilled.
On August 24, several churches, synagogues, temples, mosques and other spiritual communities joined us in focusing on this theme, entering into a twenty-one day prayer vigil for the economy of Greater Detroit, which ends September 14 in Hart Plaza.

What a great gathering! So many groups get together these days to resist something or to be against something (no more war, anti-crime, etc.). All that does it reinforce what you're NOT wanting.
This gathering doesn't seem to be anti- anything, but rather pro- lots of things - pro-Detroit, pro-Southeast Michigan, pro-the future, pro-the community, pro-individual commitment, pro-possibility.
How wonderful to be part of something so affirming.
It is a wonderful concept and I am glad to be a part of it. Are you planning on going.
